Editorial Policy
This page explains how LankaSport researches, writes, checks, and corrects its articles.
Our standards
- Accuracy first. We publish results, dates, venues, rankings, and statistics only from sources we can point to.
- No made-up content. We do not invent facts, statistics, or quotes. If a detail is unconfirmed, we say so or leave it out.
- Independent. Our coverage is not paid for by teams, athletes, event organisers or sponsors. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled.
Our sources
We rely mainly on official sources: governing bodies (such as the FIM, FIA, BWF, UCI and LPGA), event organisers and official results systems. Where useful, we also refer to established news outlets. We write everything in our own words and do not copy text from other sites.
How an article is made
- We gather the schedule, results, or standings from official sources.
- We write the article and add our own context and analysis, such as what the result means for the season.
- We check names, dates, scores and rankings against the sources before publishing.
How we use AI
We use AI-assisted tools to help with drafting, structuring and editing. AI is not our source of facts. Results, dates, rankings and statistics are checked against official sources before publication, and anything we cannot verify is left out.
Every article is reviewed and edited by Wasantha Kumara, who is responsible for its content. Some images are AI-generated illustrations and are labelled as such. They are not photographs of real events.
Images and video
We use original graphics, licensed or openly licensed media, and clearly labelled illustrations. We do not claim ownership of photos or video that belong to others, and we credit sources where appropriate.
Updates and corrections
Sports results change, and mistakes happen. When we update an article, we show the date of the update. If you spot an error, email wasantha64@gmail.com with the article link and the correction. We aim to review reports within 5 working days, fix confirmed errors, and note significant changes in the article.
Advertising
LankaSport may show advertising to support the site. Ads do not influence what we write or how we cover an event.
