2022 Vuelta a España


2022 Vuelta an España cycle race was held over a three-week period from 19 August to 11 September 2022 in the Netherlands and Spain. In the third stage, a short distance passed through Barle-Hertog in Belgium.

This year the 77th stage of the Vuelta an España was held. This was the third and final major cycling event of the 2022 season. The race started in Utrecht, Netherlands, and ended in Madrid.

This time it was won by Belgium's Remco Evenepoel, his first grand tour victory.

Twenty-three teams participated in the 2022 Vuelta an España. The participation of eighteen UCI world teams was mandatory. In addition, five UCI ProTeams also participated.

Alpecin–Deceuninck and Arkéa–Samsic were invited as the best performing  ProTeams in 2021.

At the 2022 Vuelta an España  Remco Evenepoel (QuickStep-AlphaVinyl) won his first Grand Tour race and won the championship title. The three-week Spanish Grand Tour came to an end in Madrid, and the 22-year-old stood on the podium and delivered an emotional victory speech while his competitors, second-place Enric Mas (Movistar) and third-place Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates), opened their champagne bottles next to him.

Evenepoel defeated Mas and Ayuso by a margin of 2:02 and 4:57, respectively.
